The gold prize for the 'Daejeon Pet Photography Contest,' held as a side event of the Daejeon International Photography Festival, has been awarded to Lee Dae-hee for his work titled 'Joyful Walk.'
The silver prize went to Son Ae-ban for 'The Age of One Dog, One Smartphone' and Lee Jin-joo for 'That Moment.' The bronze prizes were awarded to Kang Mi-ja for 'The Royal Guard,' Kang Cho-rong for 'Ready to Go Out,' and Lee Jin-hyeon for 'Traveling in Dreamland.' Additionally, 20 honorable mentions and 134 selected entries were announced.
The 2024 Daejeon Pet Photography Contest, which is part of the 'Daejeon International Photography Festival'โthe first international-level event in the central regionโreceived over 900 entries from across the country, selecting winners for gold, silver, and bronze prizes, as well as 20 honorable mentions and 134 selected works.
Participants were encouraged to submit photographs capturing the bonds and interactions with pets, as well as decisive moments of various animals, with no restrictions on the types of animals.
A notable feature of this contest is that all submitted photographs that did not win or get selected will be exhibited, with one piece per participant. This approach aims to create a synergy effect, encouraging visits to both the Daejeon International Photography Festival and the contest exhibition.
Meanwhile, the pet photography contest, held domestically this year, will be elevated next year to the 'Daejeon International Pet Photography Contest,' aiming to involve participants from around the world and to establish Daejeon as a city known for pets.
The contest exhibition will be held at the Media Cube Hall on the 3rd floor of Daejeon Expo Citizen Plaza from November 13 to November 24, with an invited exhibition of animal photographers on the 2nd floor.
