This fall, the first 'International Photography Festival' in the Chungcheong region will be held in Daejeon.

According to the Daejeon International Photography Festival Organizing Committee on the 30th, the launch ceremony was held on the 29th, announcing the upcoming international photography exhibition, 'Daejeon International Photography Festival.'

Jeon Jae-hong, an adjunct professor at Chungbuk National University’s Department of Photography, has been appointed as the organizing chair, with Park Dong-il, president of the Thursday Journalists Association, as the senior vice-chairman. The vice-chairmen include Oh Se-cheol, a professor in the Department of Advertising and Photography at Paichai University, and Moon Jin-woo, a visiting professor at Kyungsung University.

Advisors include Sung Nak-won, chairman of the Daejeon branch of the Korea Arts and Culture Association, Kang Ui-won, an emeritus professor in the Department of Photography at Kyungil University, and Yang Jong-hoon, a professor at Sangmyung University.

The ceremony saw a significant attendance of current and former professors from photography-related departments across the country, as well as visual and image major professors. Journalists from the video media field also participated to enhance efficient promotion.

The international photography festival, which will be held for the first time this year, is a meaningful cultural and artistic festival in the Chungcheong region. Nationwide, local governments and metropolitan organizations have been hosting various international photography events for over a decade.

The 'Daejeon International Photography Festival,' taking place from November 13 to 24 for 12 days, will be distributed across nine galleries in the old city, including the 'Daejeon Artists' House' and Daehyeong-dong. More than 30 artists from Korea, Japan, China, Europe, and the United States will participate.

Notably, since this is the first international photography exhibition in the Chungcheong region, a representative senior artist will be selected to showcase a photography exhibition to promote the area.

With the theme of 'Record and Expression,' the Daejeon International Photography Festival plans to select meaningful themes to present annually, starting this year.

To achieve this, the 'Daejeon International Photography Festival' will establish a corporate foundation and aims to establish itself as a representative regional festival.

Jeon Jae-hong, the chair of the Daejeon International Photography Festival Organizing Committee, stated, "The establishment of an international photography festival enjoyed by people around the world in the Chungcheong region is of great significance," adding, "I expect this will be an opportunity for Daejeon and the Chungcheong region to leap forward as a cultural city."
