Daejeon, October 29, 2024 – The organizing committee for the Daejeon International Photo Festival was officially launched at the Taehwa Hall in Daejeon, marking the beginning of its activities. This festival, which will take place from November 13 to 24, is significant as it is the first international photography festival in the Chungcheong region, generating excitement among photography enthusiasts and citizens alike.
The festival will be held over 12 days in and around Daeheung-dong, utilizing nine galleries in the downtown area, including the Daejeon Art House. More than 30 esteemed photographers from Korea, Japan, China, Europe, and the United States are expected to participate.
The organizing committee is chaired by Jeon Jae-hong, a former adjunct professor of photography at Chungbuk National University, with Park Dong-il, president of the Thursday Media Association, serving as the chief vice-chairman. Vice-chairmen include Oh Se-cheol, a professor in Advertising Photography and Video at Paichai University, and Moon Jin-woo, an adjunct professor at Kyungsung University.
The advisory board consists of notable figures in the photography community, including Seong Nak-won, president of the Korean Federation of Arts and Culture in Daejeon, Kang Wi-eon, emeritus professor of photography at Kyungil University, and Yang Jong-hun, a professor of photography at Sangmyung University, along with many current and former professors in photography and visual media journalism.
